Termite activities for elementary schoolers
This image was used in a presentation during voluntary outreach to 4th and 5th grade students in Athens GA. I explained how termites have microbes in their hind gut to help them digest wood. Accompanying this presentation was an activity looking at termite hind guts under light microscopes.
Molecular Biology Lecture for High School Advanced Biology Students
I approached my former biology teacher at my high school alma mater to give a lecture on molecular biology and its role in gut microbiome research. I also discussed career options in the biological sciences and my own academic journey.
